We're going to do something different this year for February Meet-n-Greets. Last year was a little stressful for me, and just thinking about hosting so many Meet-n-Greets is already stressing me out. So, I'm enlisting some help- both regular members, vip members, and administration alike!
Woah wait what's with the voting?
I realized I needed more time to prepare for the next main story role play event, plus more time to relax. Not to mention Mecha and Strawberry ought to kick back and relax for a while longer too, as they worked really hard with their roles in the last role play. If 'None' is the official answer for the poll, then I'm going to open another poll the moment this one closes, the new one for the month of March.
What is a Meet-n-Greet?
Meet-n-Greets are short role plays held on the weekends during the months of February and July (but for this case we're just doing February right now). These role plays have a theme, often to do with lore on our server (or may even break the lore if you just want to have fun). Each Meet-n-Greet utilizes buildings in available cities, sometimes more than one building depending on the theme. These Meet-n-Greets were solely created to introduce members to each other and possibly help fill empty quadrants, all while having fun.
When exactly are they held?
Saturday or Sunday, depending on the host of the Meet-n-Greet. Time also depends on the host- we usually held a Meet-n-Greet (the same one) twice a day but since we have enough people on our server, we can have different Meet-n-Greets throughout the day, so long as they don't overlap. As a host of a Meet-n-Greet, you can plan exactly what time you want to host it. Just make sure to give it at least two hours before and after other Meet-n-Greets held that day.
What buildings can they be held in and can I create one just for the rp?
Any building within Polaris or Nouva City. You can even ask to unlock buildings that were previously off limits, such as the pirate ship and Laboratory in Nouva City. As for creating a building or structure to hold it in, Polaris needs more buildings so... so long as your building design fits the theme, then it should be fine! You can also edit the inside/outside of buildings via adding furniture and coffers for said Meet-n-Greet.
I don't have the materials to build or edit buildings- or fill coffers.
No worries! You'll be given creative just for the project and you'll be given permission to build wherever it is you need to build. We'll even help create the coffers for you. Just make sure you don't edit the building itself. Adding furniture and anything else you need is fine but we don't want to have to go out of our way to fix the building itself.
I can't do the pink text thing that you do for describing scenery and changes to the rp!
Come February, a new option for the chat field will become available and it will be pink. The text won't say [Server] and you won't be able to put as long as a text as I usually do but you can easily break your posts down or extend them with an '-' in between.
What kind of themes are appropriate for a Meet-n-Greet?
The better question would be what kind of themes are inappropriate- just keep in mind our server has nothing to do with canon characters, SGRUB/SBURB, and any other races aside from Troll and Eau Lourde. Knowing that, you can create characters just for the role play, you can ask admins and VIP members to use a disguise (as a creature or whatever), you can require people to use a certain resource pack that you yourself created just for the role play, etc. To explain why you can do just about anything: Strange things have happened on Nouva (such as switching genders randomly in March) so it's not so far-reaching if something stranger happens. Just make sure you've got a good story going so that those who attend can interact.
All right, I've got an idea for a Meet-n-Greet so how do I go about creating one?
For your Meet-n-Greet, you'll need to create an all new thread in the Events Forum, with the following form filled out. If you have any further questions on what you're allowed and not allowed to do, just post here in this thread. You can make your thread as fancy as you want, just make sure the thread Subject reads Meet-n-Greet: Title of Meet-n-Greet.
Can I see an example of a Meet-n-Greet thread?
The following is a past event, not an event that's going to happen. The countdown is only there for an example. The actual story involved the Ai locking everyone in the arcade and forcing them to play games with her, if they wanted to get out they'd have to win. She'd shock and kill anyone that lost (she cheated to win)- in the end she was defeated by the Trolls cheating at the claw machine, by shaking it so that the Ai's prize would drop from the claw.
[countdown:=February 28 2015 6:00 PM -5]Now - Hurry up and join![/countdown]
The artificial intelligence of the Nouvan Arcade has offered extra tickets to every game that's won along with new rare and exotic prizes including several multi-million Delta worth objects. Each troll that enters through the Arcade's doors today will receive free tokens to participate in this event!
Requirements
1. Must be a member of our server (not a guest).
2. Must use the Digital Lockdown Resource Pack to attend (Download available soon). Both the TrollMe AU Resource Pack and the Digital Lockdown Resource Pack must both be active. The Digital Lockdown Resource Pack must be above the TrollMe AU one (stack them with Digital Lockdown on top).
Provisions
There is going to be another [Class] Coffer so make sure your inventory is completely empty and you're not wearing any armor before using it. You will receive 25 Apples, one Air Hockey Puck, one Air Hockey Stick, Five Game Tokens, and an Enchanted Book: Smite VI as a reward for coming to the event. The Hockey Puck and Air Hockey Stick are used for visual role play purposes. The Game Tokens are used to play games when the official event starts and are to be dropped in the Deposit Funnel attached to the Coffer next to the particular game you want to play.
Available Games
Dance Dance - 4 Game Tokens to play. There are four arrows on the ground in which you have to step on. One the screen, no matter what song you choose, the arrows will come up from the bottom of the screen and you will have to hit them when they reach the arrow bar (the arrow bar has arrows that match the shape of the arrows coming from the bottom of the screen). There is another bar above the arrow bar that slowly fills up every time you hit a successful arrow. If you miss too many arrows, this bar will drop to 0 and you will automatically lose even if you manage to fill it back up again.
Claw Machine - 3 Game Tokens to play. The claw drops from inside the machine, picking up actual items to drop them off in a small slide that leads to a hatch where you can retrieve the item. There is a stick that controls the direction of the claw and a button that will drop the claw so that it may pick up whatever item you aim to gain.
Racing Games - 2 Game Tokens to play. You need to sit down in the chair and grasp the steering wheel. There are two floor pedals, one to go and one to stop. There is also a lever in which you can use to increase or decrease your speed. The game starts off with you choosing the car you want, then the race track. When playing two-player it's just going to be you and the other person playing, no other cars will be on the road unless it's part of the game itself. While you play by yourself you'll be racing against 12 NPCs all at once. You can only play one race track before you put in another two tokens.
Fighting Games - 1 Game Token to play. You have a joystick for character and selector movement, a button for selecting, and four more buttons for fighting- kick, jump, punch, and duck. Through any combination of the fighting buttons you can create in-game devastating combos to floor your opponent. Both you and your opponent have a life bar and you will lose life every time you get hit. There are three rounds between you and your opponent, whether it's an NPC or another player. If you manage to win two, you win the game.
Shooting Games - 2 Game Tokens to play. There is a button to start and you also have a gun to shoot at your targets. Each Shooting Game machine has a different theme- aliens, zombies, experiments gone wrong, dinosaurs, etc. Your targets will attack you whether you shoot at them or not. You will eventually run out of ammo, too, but you can duck quickly (the games have motion sensors) below the screen and it will reload for you. Be careful though, your targets will come closer and can still attack you when you're reloading your ammo!
Air Hockey - 5 Game Tokens to play. This game is rather simple. Once you put in the tokens to play, you'll receive a lime green hockey puck and the air of the Air Hockey will turn on. Place the hockey puck on your side and use your Air Hockey Stick to try and knock it into your opponent's goal. Your opponent can block and defend their goal by hitting it back. If it lands in your opponent's goal, the digital score hanging above will change.
Virtual Reality - 5 Tokens to play. After using the appropriate amount of tokens to start the machine you get inside of it and select your weapon on-screen. After selecting your weapon you can select your challenge. Wait a couple of seconds and your surroundings will change. Even though you're standing still in the machine, you can still walk and run virtually just as if you were doing it naturally in the real world. Same goes for attacking. Your opponents are themed and based on the challenge you selected. You normally do not feel any pain if you get hit by an opponent.
