Coming of the Pumpkin Beast 2015

Throughout the month there will be multiple contests. Contests can span from one week to the entire month of October. Entries for the contests have different requirements. Anyone can join in on these contests but only a few will win! There will be different kinds of prizes for each contest, VIP Points and VIP Membership being the main (and most frequent) prizes.

Scary Story Contest
Starts and Ends: October 1st - October 31st
Judging: November 1st - November 7th
Participation Prizes: 10 VIP Points per participant, 4 Pumpkin Tokens each for the Pumpkin Token Well.
1st Place Prize: 1 Month of VIP Membership (from November 8th to December 8th), a summary of the Scary Story will be used in future Campfire Nightmares Role Plays.
2nd Place Prize: 100 VIP Points, a summary of the Scary Story will be used in future Campfire Nightmares Role Plays.
Honorable Mention Prize: 50 VIP Points, a summary of the Scary Story will be used in future Campfire Nightmares Role Plays.

Quick Facts: Nouvans can't receive a permanent death so long as the goddess is still alive. When they do die (while the goddess remains), they will re-spawn right beside their corpse.

Entry Requirements
1. Must be a story, not a poem. Can be a short story or include several chapters. Up to you.
2. Can be of the characters that are currently on Nouva. Ask permission from owners to include characters that are not yours. It can also be original stories, an experience that happened to you, or an urban legend around your area!
3. Scary Story can include 'rumors or flashbacks' back on Alternia but must take place on Nouva (i.e. they're gathered around a campfire and someone tells of a spooky experience they had back on Alternia).
4. Must be a spooky/scary story but can include other genres (romance, angst, gore, etc.). Be careful what you put into the story: If it goes beyond our PG-13 limit on our website, then your submission will be deleted. If you're not sure something is okay, simply ask Keiran.
5. You're only allowed one entry so make it count!
6. All entries must be submitted on this thread as separate posts. If you have multiple chapters, at the bottom of each post, put a link to the next chapter's post (if you don't know how to do this, just ask).


Pumpkin Carving (More Like Jack-O-Lantern Building)
Starts and Ends: October 11th - October 17th
Judging: October 18th - October 24th
Participation Prizes: 5 VIP Points per participant, 1 Pumpkin Token each for the Pumpkin Token Well.
1st Place Prize: 100 VIP Points, Pumpkin will be used for next year's Pumpkin Carving example.
2nd Place Prize: 50 VIP Points.
Honorable Mention: 20 VIP Points.

Entry Requirements
1. All entries must be built on a specified space near the Beast Tamer Arena (see example pumpkin by Doku). Teleport will be provided via the Orion's Belt Teleportation Center.
2. All entries are required to use the blocks provided and no more.
3. Group projects are a no-go. You have to build your pumpkin alone. Anyone found to have help building their pumpkins (and we will check) will be disqualified.
4. Get creative; you are not bound by the laws of physics! So long as your pumpkin looks like a pumpkin, then anything goes!
5. Place a sign with your website username on it (not your display-name, there's a difference).


Spooky Hive Contest
Starts and Ends: October 1st - October 24th
Judging: October 25th - October 31st
Participation Prizes: 20 VIP Points per participant, 10 Pumpkin Tokens each for the Pumpkin Token Well.
1st Place Prize: 1 Month VIP Membership, 50 VIP Points, Winning Hive to be used as 2016 Coming of the Pumpkin Beast Announcement/Event.
2nd Place Prize: 150 VIP Points.
Honorable Mention: 100 VIP Points.

Creative will be granted for decoration purposes. You will be monitored by an administrator as you decorate in/around your hive. Once your done, creative mode will be taken away.

Entry Requirements
1. You may submit multiple decorated hives to this contest but only one will get the chance at winning.
2. You may decorate only the outside of your hive (front/backyard), only the inside of your hive, or both. Make it spooky! You can set traps to scare people too (just make sure they're easily reset and people don't die while touring your hive). Feel free to turn your hive (or apartment) into a 'haunted' hive or apartment.
3. You may not have help decorating but you can google examples or look up examples on youtube. The only exception to this rule is if you are living with multiple people. If you are living with multiple people, then you have a choice of working together to decorate your hive.
4. Once you are finished with your hive, submit the xyz coordinates to the start of your 'decorations' (i.e. where you want people to first appear for the best experience at checking out your decorated hive) to the official Spooky Hive Contest thread, and please make sure to add where all the decorations are (if it's only outside, just say 'front yard' or 'back yard', etc). A teleport will be added to the Orion's Belt Teleportation Center in Nouva City that will go to these coordinates so that people may take a tour of your spookified hive.

Note: Your entry will be toured by multiple people once it's been submitted. If you find you're missing something from your hive (if it's built outside the city), send us a note and we'll check for you and return what you're missing- perpetrators will be punished severely as theft is considered griefing.


Costume Contest
Starts and Ends: October 4th - October 10th
Judging: October 11th - October 17th
Participation Prizes: 5 VIP Points per participant, 1 Pumpkin Token each for the Pumpkin Token Well.
1st Place Prize: 100 VIP Points.
2nd Place Prize: 50 VIP Points.
Honorable Mention: 20 VIP Points.

Entry Requirements
1. Costumes are for officially accepted characters, both Troll and Eau Lourde alike. You may break the guidelines to make these costumes but the troll must be recognizable underneath.
2. You may submit multiple dressed up characters but only one has the possibility of winning.
3. Your costume can not be based on a canon character, either of homestuck or other media (troll versions of them are fine).
4. It's not required but you may create a new skin just for this costume.
5. When you are done designing your costume, you must submit the description and/or a picture of your character in their costume (this can be art or a screenshot of you wearing the costume for a skin). All entries go here.

Just like role plays, exclusive games are provided during Coming of the Pumpkin Beast. You can earn VIP Points through not only participating but also through winning rounds, killing others (if applicable), and even filming if necessary! There is one game that is the exception where the only VIP Points you will receive is through participation HOWEVER you can earn really cool stuff through participating during your turn!

Notes: In the case of filming, you must be wearing your accepted skin of your character (can be in costume). If we're not filming, you can wear anything you want. If you appear online while a game is currently going on (aside from Brooding Cavern Trials), you can as for a teleport and join in on the next round of the game.

Brooding Cavern Trials
Starts and Ends: October 1st - October 31st
Participation Rewards: See Trial Completion Rewards.
Class Coffer: Food, mostly.
Location: Haunted Mansion. Go through gated door to the right while on Haunted Mansion grounds and jump down into the well. Remember to save at the lifestone there!

Trial Completion Rewards
1st - 5 VIP Points, 5 Tokens
2nd - 10 VIP Points, 10 Tokens
3rd - 20 VIP Points, 20 Tokens
4th - 40 VIP Points, 30 Tokens
5th - 80 VIP Points, 40 Tokens

Rules
In order to obtain VIP Points in the Brooding Cavern Trials, you must complete each Trial. If you are found to be breaking any of the following rules, you will not receive any VIP Points.
1. Always shut the doors to the break rooms once you enter.
2. Do not teleport players into any of the trials or break rooms.
3. If you want a break or don't want to play anymore, you can use /spawn to remove yourself from the trials. However, if you intend to come back, you will have to restart the trials!
4. Once you're in a break room, buy a parchment and pen, sign your website username on it (it has to be signed and closed so that it can't be edited), and then submit it to the hopper! You can only do this once per trial!

DO NOT PUT ANY KIND OF LIGHTING IN THE TRIALS, EVEN IF IT'S DARK. THERE'S A REASON WHY IT'S DARK. JUST DON'T DO IT.

TURN OFF CAT (USE /BREMOVE) AND DO NOT FLY, EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY.

Class Coffer: Popcorn, Bow and Arrows, and Sword
Location: Haunted Mansion, Nouva City. Teleport can be provided if request sent.

Earnings
2 VIP Points and 2 Pumpkin Tokens rewarded to a player for every kill they make, regardless of Team
4 VIP Points and 4 Pumpkin Tokens rewarded to every player of the winning Team at the end of the round

Grave Digger
Starts: Saturday the 10th @4pm EDT
Participation Rewards: 4 VIP Points per participant, 1 Pumpkin Token each for the Pumpkin Token Well.
Class Coffer: Ladders, Shovel, Popcorn, and Sword
Location: Haunted Mansion's Graveyard, Nouva City. Teleport can be provided if request sent.


Earnings
2 VIP Points and 2 Pumpkin Tokens for every key found.
20 more VIP Points and Pumpkin Tokens for every player that remains in the game once the doors are open.

How to Play
1. You will be searching a bunch of keys within the coffins beneath the soil.
2. Use your shovel to dig through the soil and ladders to get out of the hole. DO NOT DIG THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE HOLE TO GET TO THE NEXT COFFIN. YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM PLAYING THE GAME EVER AGAIN.
3. Watch out! There may be zombies beneath the soil. Defeat them to ensure your safety! If you die, just walk right back into the game!
4. You might not find a key in the coffin as it may be empty or it may contain something else entirely. You can take whatever is in the coffin for yourself!
5. Once you find a key, stick it in the corresponding chest. When every key has been placed, the doors to the tomb should open up and the game will have been won!


Trick or Treat
Starts: Saturday the 17th @4pm EDT
Participation Rewards: 4 VIP Points per participant, 1 Pumpkin Token each for the Pumpkin Token Well.
Class Coffer: Popcorn and Sword
Location: Beast Tamer Arena, Nouva City. Teleport can be provided if request sent.

The Pumpkin Beast Challenge
Starts: Saturday the 31st at 5pm EDT
Participation Rewards: Loads of experience and a drop of 20k Delta. Dragon Egg will go to anyone who doesn't have it (or wants it if everyone already does).
Class Coffer: Everything will have already been provided.
Location: N/A

This is part of The Pumpkin Beast Challenge role play. You will get to take on the dragon oocly and defeat it! Once it's been defeated the rest of the role play will begin. You are allowed to be in creative mode during the battle but you are not allowed to collect experience or the delta if you do (leave it to those who went through the challenge in survival).
