Role Playing
A lot of people are either used to role playing in forums or one on one but group events run differently and can be a little time consuming when it comes to trying to move the story forward.
- Don't stray too far from the group unless you're told to. This means don't go exploring on your own (aka leave the area/group - major example would be you see stairs and decide to take them when the group is in the middle of trying to figure something out. Instead point out the stairs.) as you may end up triggering the next part of the role play too soon before anyone gets the chance to contribute.
- Take notice of things and either point them out or ask questions if you think it's important. Doing so contributes to the role play and will give you or someone else the chance to explore away from the group to try and help move the story forward. Do not take things from places unless you've been told to.
- Using the /msg command comes in handy if you're confused and need help. I will send you a private message if I want you to personally move the story along (i.e. you have a minor role).
- Try to stay in character. This being said, strifing is allowed (which is the whole point in filling out a strifing profile before you attend).
- In order to receive points for participation, you need to interact. Though we may strike up a conversation with you or interact with you in some way if we see that you're not participating, we would rather not have you rely on us. Don't be shy- we're all friendly and this is for fun.
- Be serious. Don't try to do something uncalled for with your troll unless it's in-character and, even then, be very careful. You may end up interrupting the role play and we may need to sort the problem out before we continue which can take a few minutes too long. Flying or running around / pacing while something serious is going down is considered goofing off AND out of character. In other words: DON'T DO IT. Taking screenshots is an exception to this rule if and only if you announce, out of character, that you're about to take a screenshot!
- There may be a strifing sequence in our role play. In which case, before the strife begins everyone must line up in front of the 'target' and stay there. An order of posting will be created, which will result in each role player getting a turn to attack and/or react to the target. The target may have more than one posting turn depending on how many role players show up.
- Admins should not contribute to the role play unless prompted by me. We need to give our regular members a chance to be able to help move the story forward.
